Long House Plants is a small retail nursery run by Tim Carter.
All the plants are grown here and we have a range of interesting and unusual trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses and alpines, selected to be successful in the local soils. Plant sales are for collection from the nursery only, we do not offer a delivery or mail order service.
There is off road car parking and a loo.
The nursery is all on one level and the loo is suitable for the disabled.
We accept payment by cash, credit and debit cards.
If you are visiting us to buy a specific plant, please contact us first to make sure that it is available.
Please note that only assistance dogs are welcome in the nursery or garden.
You may have noticed our opening hours;
Open from the beginning of March to the end of June
Fridays & Saturdays 10am-5pm, Sundays 10am-4pm & Bank Holidays 10am-5pm
From the beginning of July to the end of September Saturdays 10am-5pm
This is to give us enough time to grow all the plants – we will also open by appointment.
We are happy to give advice on the care of plants and advice such as how to design a border or what plants to use in a tricky area. Bring in photos or a digital camera, a note of where the sun rises and sets and what the soil is like. The nursery does get busy, so if you want to spend more time with Tim, make an appointment either by telephone 01708 371719 or leave a message on the contact us section and he will see you before the nursery opens or closes so you can have his undivided attention.
